The Catholic online dating world can be a wonderful place, but it can also leave you with a number of questions.
While you can be certain that people you meet will share your faith, what does that exactly mean?
How serious are they about their faith? Are they more traditionalist, or more progressive in their views? And, just like any other relationship, how do you navigate first date jitters, or whether you should go on a second date?
The CatholicSingles blog is a place for dating advice from Catholic writers who love their faith and draw on the church’s teachings and traditions to answer some of the biggest questions facing Catholic singles today in the online dating world.
Bringing Church Teachings to Catholic Online Dating
The church’s fundament views on love, dating, and marriage differ in a lot of ways than those of society in general. Most of us, however, were raised in a culture that has shaped our views on the ideas of what a relationship, what dating, and what marriage should be.
The CatholicSingles blog is written with the church’s views in mind. We draw heavily on the church’s teachings and viewpoints on love, marriage, relationships, and, most importantly, the nature of the person. Our hope is to provide insights into how a faithful Catholic can approach online dating in today’s world.
In many ways, online dating contradicts basic viewpoints of the church. While a lot of good, Catholic marriages have come from online dating sites, most services treat their members like products rather than persons who have dignity.
Our hope is to restore the dignity of the individual to online dating, both through our services and also through our blog.
Catholic Online Dating: Your Survival Guide
Dating can be part of God’s plan for you, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy.
If we look to secular dating advice, you will certainly run into ideas and suggestions that are difficult to merge with our Catholic values.
Within our faith, however, there isn’t always a lot of great advice either.
That’s why our blog offers tips and advice for people just like you.
Our hopes and goals are to offer a way forward through the online dating world to help you find fellowship and love in a way that is consistent with your values. We pull in a lot of secular dating advice and try to separate that which is compatible with our faith, that which is opposed, and that which we can still learn from, but change slightly to be more in line with our beliefs. We look at fun questions such as easy conversation starters and also tackle the hard questions such as dating for divorced Catholics.
In addition to helping you navigate the Catholic online dating environment, our hope is that our articles deepen your faith through prayer, service, and preparing yourself for the vocation that God has called you to.
It is our belief that the single life shouldn’t just be a season of waiting. It should be an enriching time of your life where you grow in love: love of God, love of other people, and love for yourself!
Advice Drawn from the Teachings of the Church
When we write a blog piece, we try to draw on the teachings of the church: teachings on what it means to be human, our purpose in life, and how the vocation of marriage should shape us to come closer to God.
Multiple surveys show that committed Catholic marriages are some of the happiest and most content marriages in society. We firmly believe this is because these couples have taken the time to learn and live out their marriage in a Catholic way.
While there is a lot of confusion (and misinformation) about what the church actually teaches, our hope is to help clarify some of the most common relationship questions we face on a daily basis.
