What the Sacred Heart Can Teach Us About Being Vulnerable in Courtships

I know it is not June nor the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but I have been reading a lot about the Sacred Heart of Jesus lately as I begin my last full year at Franciscan University and before Grad School at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois (which is where I am originally from). The Sacred Heart of Jesus is so beautiful when it comes to being so vulnerable and so much, that you could compare the Sacred Heart of Jesus to how much a man and woman’s heart bleeding for love for each other.
Think about that for a moment. Jesus’s heart bleeds so much with love for us and wants to court us, that he makes his own heart vulnerable and leaves it to be either broken by us or to be loved by us in the most romantic way possible. The same is with a man and women. Both of them open their hearts just like the Sacred Heart to be either loved or to be broken, but yet still have love within them even if one person does them wrong. The person knows that not only are they suffering but yet, they have this most beautiful hope and belief in the Sacred Heart of Jesus that is still in love with them and knowing that Jesus is with them with his own broken heart for you and holding it right in front of you. How beautiful is that?!?!

What a delightful wonder that the Sacred Heart is with you in your moment of joy or sorrow and is placed right in front of you. From the very waking of a courtship, Jesus places his own Sacred Heart into the heart of the man and woman to make themselves vulnerable to each other and to catch each other when they are broken or hurting. One of my favorite prefaces during the Advent Season is the one where the prayer says that the Virgin longed for him beyond all telling. Wow! Even before the Sacred Heart of Jesus was a devotion, the Sacred Heart of Jesus was already burning within the Virgin Mary while she was courting God and even in men and women! How beautiful that the Sacred Heart of Jesus is completely opened to not only when a man and woman are courting, but even when they are suffering the most during a courtship or even when they have broken up and Jesus places his heart right to you to have, to hold, to love, and to cherish.

Look to the Sacred Heart regardless if you are currently in a marriage, courtship, or still single. Look to the Sacred Heart and ask Jesus to bless you in his Most Sacred Heart and ask him to place his heart within your hearts to become one flesh and one spirit. Look at the Sacred Heart of Jesus to become vulnerable when it comes to love and courtships. The second you do, the holier they will become. Being vulnerable in a courtship sounds like it is a weakness, if you meditate and have a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it will be the strongest thing ever.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
