Falling For Fall

Falling For Fall

The leaves are changing, the weather invigorating and there is an excitement in the air…it’s Fall! I don’t know about you, but this is my FAVORITE time of year. I think it’s because I associate it with new beginnings. Not only is it the transition time between Summer and Winter, it’s a transition time for me personally. Maybe because as a child I always associated the beginning of each new school year as a possibility for change. New clothes, new haircut, new attitude, new classmates, etc. Forget New Years, Fall is when I did my best goal setting. Who was I going to be this year? What clubs would I join? Who would I fall in love with?
Fall is a time for you to breathe! It’s the calm before the storm…you know the one I’m talking about…Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years in the blink of an eye. Rushing here and there, stressing over whose invite to accept for Thanksgiving dinner and debating whether or not to be the first in your family to suggest pulling names this year for Christmas.

So…if you’re up for the challenge…here is what I want you to do for the next month and a half. I want you to get out as much as you can and be happy. I want you to let go of what is not working and find something new to replace it. I want you to go to the park and look around and appreciate all the natural beauty that we take for granted. I want you to take walks, get off your cell-phone (a tough one for me, but I’m working on it) and look around. I want you to think…think about your life and what being here means to you. What would you still like to contribute to society and what would you still like to experience in your lifetime? I want you to pray. God is listening…you need to start the dialogue because he will answer.

Here is an additional challenge for CatholicSingles.com members:

1. If you have not put up a profile picture, put one up.
2. If you have not taken the time to write about yourself, tell us about yourself.
3. If you have not taken the Compatibility test…now is the time.
4. If you have never contacted another member…make a new friend.

So, as we embrace Autumn, I leave you with this quote from author and journalist Hal Borland:

“Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?”
