Ten Bible Verses of Reflection for Singles

Being single allows one a lot of time to pray and reflect. One beautiful way singles can spend their time is by reading the Bible more. The Bible is truly God’s Word and He is present to us through the Bible. Below, I have chosen ten Bible verses that speak to my heart as a single.
1. “For everything there is a season.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Life can be challenging, but one of the keys to thriving in life is to enjoy each season. Singleness is just that, a time of our lives. If we can find contentment in this time, Our Lord will move us on to the next phase of our life. Singleness can also come again in life. Think of widows and widowers, those who must find joy in the present moment. I feel as if God is teaching me to love Him more and in a deeper way during my single years. Use this time to build a solid prayer life, aiming to pray for at least a half hour a day.

2. ”My grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
I love this verse from St. Paul who struggled with a difficulty, but found that Christ was enough for him. He could bear this difficulty with Christ and His abundant grace. I think St. Paul is an outstanding saint for singles. He spent time in prison, but did so joyfully. He can teach us many things about how to face challenges in life.

3. “Seek first the kingdom of God.” Matthew 6:33
This verse reminds me to seek first the things that matter to God-working on my soul and letting Him change me and loving myself in an authentic way and also loving and caring for others. Practicing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Also, seeking to build God’s kingdom and tell those who do not know about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

4. “We know that all things work together for the good according to those who love God.” Romans 8:28
This verse reminds me that God can have a good purpose even for difficult times. He brings good out of the bad. He is a powerful, loving God.

5. “For nothing shall be impossible for God.” Luke 18:27
This verse tells me that if God wants something, it will happen. Marriages brought together by God can happen across continents, as evidenced by certain couples on this website. God is a God of miracles.

6. “Consider the birds…” Matt 6:26
God’s love and care for me is evident through these words. Sometimes as a single, one can feel that we are alone. But we are never truly alone. God is always with us, loving us and sustaining us. He loves us whether we are single or married or divorced or annulled, young or old. His providential care covers every aspect of our lives.

7. “Have no anxiety about anything.” Phil 4:6
Through this verse, God reminds me to trust in Him and not to worry at all. He is with me.

8. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” Psalm 118: 24
God has given us another day of life. This day will never come again. I will choose joy in this day, whether I carry a cross or not. God loves me.

9. “but in everything with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your needs known to God” Phil 4:6
Ask God for what you need. But also love Him if He chooses not to answer you or says no to what you ask for or tells you to wait. God deserves to be loved for who He is, not just for the gifts He gives. He also knows us better than we know ourselves and what is best for us. This verse also reminds me to be a grateful single. Be thankful in everything, in good times and in bad times. A grateful heart is very beautiful to God the Creator.

10. “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” Rom 8:38-39
We are loved infinitely by God and created to be with Him for all eternity as part of His family with Him in heaven forever. Nothing except our own free wills can separate us from His love. He is with us always.

As a single, this is very reassuring to me. No matter what may come in life, love and the God who is love will always pursue me. He is my Good Shepherd. I am His sheep.
