IS IT YOU?
ARE YOU THE ONE?

I use to love watching the "Flintstones," which if you really watch it closely it was a cartoon version of "The Honeymooners." Main character, fat, dumb and a loud mouth, his side kick always abused by the main character but just went along with all that happened, and of course the wives were the smart ones.

But I am getting a little off track here, the reason why I brought up the Flintstones was one episode. Fred and Barney went to a Water Buffalo Convention in Frantic City, where they were going to have a bathing beauty contest, after all what is a trip to frantic City without a bathing beauty contest. However, while they are talking about all of this they sing a song, “We searched high and low for Miss Water Buffalo, to wear our beauty crown...” and as Fred and Barney lift the top of the cake with the beauty contestants in it they see all of their wives, Wilma just happened to be on side where Fred was and Betty on the side where Barney stood. They end up picking their wives as the winners and of course a melee breaks out.

This really teaches us a couple of things, first that most times when you are looking for something it is right in front of you, and second beauty is more then just looks. This is a simple philosophy to follow but how many of us really do just that. As I start out my life again, this time as a widower, and with my friends in catholic Singles, I hear myself asking as I scan through the profiles, “Is it you? Are you the one?” I keep wondering am I looking too hard, is the person God has chosen for me right there in front of me but I am not listening, or is the person still hidden in the cake waiting for me to remove the top and find her. Of course the answer could also be, that she is looking at my picture asking, “Is it you? Are you the one?” and we are just missing each other.

We all have to take that step of faith, we have to ask each other, “Is it you? Are you the one? It is a big step to take, I know I cringe with every E-mail I send to which there is either no response, or a response of no thank you. With every E-mail I open, I find a lot to be scammers, but I always answer those that are true members of CS.

None of us ever knows where we will find love, but one thing never stop dreaming, and never stop asking, “Is it you? Are you the one?”
