GOOD MORNING
BY: MARK ANTHONY ROSOLOWSKI "Good morning", two simple words, words that are often spoken without thought, yet they are powerful words. These two words when spoken are in essence saying "I love you", "I am glad you are here" and "I am happy to see you." Those two words mean so much, yet when we hear them or say them we do not think about what those words mean. I remember the morning of December 23, 1979 it was the day after my wedding, the first day I woke up with my wife. I remember her saying "Good morning, Mark", I responded, "Good morning, babe." Then we hugged and kissed. What we were saying at that time was "I love you", "I am happy to see you" and "I am glad that you are here with me." We continued that practice for the rest of the time that we were married, even when she was in the hospital, I would call her to say "Good morning." When she became to sick to answer the phone, I would still say "Good morning, babe." Even though she was not there, she was in the hospital; I had to say it, knowing she was thinking the same words. I remember the morning of March 23, 2008; it was the day after my wife passed away, the first day, that I would wake up without her. I tried to imagine her saying, "Good morning, Mark", I tried to say "Good morning, babe." The words were stuck in my throat, I reached out for a hug and kiss but there was only empty space. I would never hear her voice tell me "I love you", "I am happy to see you", or "I am glad that you are here with me." I still continue to say "Good morning, babe", every morning, but I do not hear anything in return, I do not have anyone to wrap my arms around, no one is there to kiss anymore. I realize now I am alone and on my own, missing what I use to look forward to. The thing that I took for granted would be there for the rest of my life was gone forever. Just a reminder to everyone, when you say "Good morning", "Good afternoon", "Good evening", or "Good night," say it with your heart. When you hear those words spoken to you, listen with your heart, listen as though it will be the last time you hear them from that person. One day you will wake up and you will realize how much you miss hearing them saying it to you. After they are gone all you will have left will be the memories, please make those moments count, before it is too late. |
