Re: My Church

I didn't know that the Catholic church teaches its members to make vile comments against people you disagree with, i.e., the president of the United States. I didn't know that my church prohibits compassion for those less fortunate brothers. I didn't know that Catholics who came to this country for "life, liberty and the persuit of happiness", would deny care that would give their brothers, "life, liberty and the persuit of happiness". If you have never had a life threatening disease, as I have (through no fault of my own), you don't know how illness limits your liberty and persuit of happiness and lack of health care limits your life. As much as my Catholic family would like to believe that this is a Catholic country, it is not. Every citizen does not believe as we do and we have no right to make compulsary demands on them according to our religion. As much as I may hate abortion, you and I have no right to prohibit abortion in this country. There is a division between church and state for this very reason. You can condem the sin, but where in our church's teachings are we directed to hate the sinner. Please have your opinions, but try to be more Christ-like in the expression of your beliefs. Isn't that the point of our faith?
